CII Coimbatore

The Confederation of Indian Industry started its service in Coimbatore in 1991 with around 17 members and has today, become the second largest zonal office in the country representing more than 300 members from across various sectors that includes Auto components, Engineering, Textiles, Information Technology, Pumps & Motors and Educational Institutions.

With a large membership base, that is very active, CII Coimbatore Zone has grown from strength from year to year through its services, which include workshops, seminars, conferences, trade fairs, interactive sessions with government and non-government officials, business linkages and close co-operation with the local governmental agencies. These sessions offer an opportunity for our membership to keep themselves updated on the various aspects of business and commerce and gives a chance to redefine their strategies. CII works closely with the various colleges around the region to promote leadership and the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst them by organising the CEO Speak Series – an event that will have a prominent CEO speak to the students on a topic of relevance and interact with them as well.

CII has many branded conferences that are awaited by the industry like – Regional Quality Summit on Education for Schools and Colleges, The National Foundry Conclave for the Foundry Sector, National Conference on Pumps for the Pumps Sector, Connect Coimbatore for the IT Sector, Aagnya for encouraging women to reach their dreams, Conference on the Latest Trends in Manufacturing for the general manufacturing sector and Comptex to enhance the competitiveness of the Textile Sector and many more. These events are addressed by experts on various topics related to the theme of the event and is attended by members from across the region, and few from across the country and abroad.

CII Coimbatore Zone has also released many reports that has benefited membership and has brought in investments into the region a plenty. Some of them to be mentioned are: “Coimbatore as an Ideal IT Destination” by PricewaterhouseCoopers Ltd, A report on the “competitiveness of the Textile Sector in Tamil Nadu” along with the South India Mills Association, A report of making “Avinashi Road a World Class Urban Highway” along with the Government of Tamil Nadu.

CII’s youth wing, Young Indians [Yi] was launched in the year 2006 and today is the second largest chapter in the country among 19 others. As a forum of young achievers formed with a objective of being the Voice of Young Indians, the Coimbatore chapter has defined the role of a model chapter. They are involved in events under the learning platform by which they interact with rolemodels in various fields and also involve in the areas of health, environment and education. The Coimbatore Chapter has organized the Young Indians Southern Regional Summit, The National Retreat at Ooty and Coimbatore Vizha with a unique concept of celebrating the spirit of Coimbatore through various events and competitions. Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India spoke at a Yi session in 2007 which was attended by around 7000 school children across the region.

With a past that was promising and a future that is nothing short, CII Coimbatore Zone is set to work tirelessly for the development of the industry and the region and make it one of the most competitive districts in India.
