PSG – Science & Technology Entrepreneurial Park (PSG-STEP) was established in the year 1998 by PSG College of Technology in association with the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India and IDBI and ICICI to promote technology based enterprises in the areas of Software, Electronic Products, Hi-tech Mechanical Products, Eco-friendly Textile Products & Bio-technology using the core strengths of PSG College of Technology.
PSG-STEP extends the incubation support to the first generation entrepreneurs in the technology areas. The incubation support includes infrastructure facilities in terms of equipments, machineries, laboratory & testing facilities, mentoring support and seed fund support to the start-ups.
PSG-STEP has made all efforts to fulfill the main objective of fostering a new class of entrepreneurs in the present knowledge era. PSG-STEP launched Entrepreneurs Advisory Clinic to counsel entrepreneurs on technology, projects, infrastructure, funding and services, with the accent on the potential, background and capability of the entrepreneur. The clinic offers expert advice on technical upgradation, modernization, diversification and technical troubleshooting to convert new technology into commercial ventures.
PSG-STEP provides technical services to the entrepreneurs by providing hardware, software and humanware support available at PSG College of Technology. The entrepreneurs utilize the various Centers of Excellence of PSG College of Technology.
The technical services provided by PSG-STEP include R & D activities, Product development, Re-engineering, Calibration and testing facilities, Quality assurance and Market Research
PSG-STEP with the support of Technology Development Board, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India extends “Seed Fund Support” to start-ups.
PSG-STEP has been identified as one of the Outreach Centre by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) Government of India for the “Technopreneur Promotion Programme” to promote innovations in the region.
PSG-STEP is one of the nodal institution for the Lemelson – Recognition & Mentoring Programme (L-RAMP) which focuses on promoting socially relevant innovations.
PSG-STEP has been selected as the secretariat for the “Incubation Asia Pacific Network” by infoDev, World Bank & DST, Government of India to promote the incubation network in the region.
Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi have judged PSG-STEP the “Best STEP” in the country for the year 2002
